About Me

Hello! My name is Jen Schiel, and I live in Parker, CO with my husband and 2 wonderful kids, David and Addie. I run my small quilting business out of my own art studio in my home.

Some people ask me how I got into quilting. Here is my story:

It all started with my son, David, arriving 4 weeks early. It was a pretty traumatic time for my husband and I…especially when leaving our first born in the NICU for 16 days so he can gain strength and learn how to eat properly. Towards the end of his stay in the NICU, I was gifted a homemade baby quilt that a woman donated to the hospital for families just like us. It was an overwhelming experience and I wanted to pass on this experience to other families who were faced with a trying time while their babies were healing in the hospital.

However, I did not know how to quilt, much less how to thread a sewing machine! Luckily, my husband grew up learning how to repair such machines through his father, who owned a vacuum and sewing machine shop in Sidney, Nebraska. He taught me the basics, and I was set on my own.

I watched a LOT of youtube videos and took a lot of hands-on sewing classes to get the swing of things. Dating as old as my son has been on this Earth, I have been constantly learning, creating, and enjoying my time quilting for families from all over the country (and in the UK!)

The very first creation was 2 baby quilts I donated back at the same NICU.
