Why choose me?
I listen to what you need:
I am a one-person business. No middle-men. I sit down with you personally for as long as you like to answer any questions you have and brainstorm the best layout for your heirloom quilt. There is absolutely NO rushing through this process because this is YOUR quilt. I want to meet your every expectation and make your vision a reality.
But I found cheaper! Why are you so expensive?
Simple. You GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. There are mail-order companies that you send in your precious (and irreplaceable) shirts and they whip out a cheap blanket. They do not consult you on layouts, what designs you want to keep, etc. I have seen pictures of entire designs on shirts chopped in half because it didn’t fit their “mold”. I refuse to call them quilts because they don’t meet the criteria to be classified as a quilt. (ask me if you ever want to know the specifics). They are far from heirloom quality and I guarantee they will not last generations if you use them on a daily basis or even wash them. I’m passionate about my work…I don’t just “whip out” a quilt….I take my time and ensure my customers that they are getting the very best of my work EVERY TIME.
I win awards at quilt shows.
I enter my quilt creations to the Douglas County Fair every year and also local quilt guilds for recognition of my work. I have won multiple awards, including judges choice and peoples choice. I have examples in my art studio for you to look at. Awards are not just given out willy-nilly. There can be fierce competition in quilt shows….its kinda scary! Every time I win an award, I am humbled that other like-minded quilters respect and recognize my hard work.
In 2021, I entered in my personal t-shirt quilt to be judged at the Douglas County Fair and it won 1st place! I also entered my sons’ baby clothes quilt and it won 3rd place.
Every quilt is original and custom to YOU.
I do follow a mathematical design to make the pieces all fit, but the layout is completely custom to your needs. No two quilts are alike. Ever.
I use top of the line equipment and high quality materials.
“You have to spend money to make money”. No clue who coined that quote, but its true for my business. I used a hand-me-down 40+ year old home machine to start my business. She eventually was retired (she was tired!) and I used my hard-earned cash to buy a top-of-the-line long-arm quilting machine. She was not cheap, but she is well worth every penny. You get to see her when you come visit my studio!
When creating your quilt, I do not skimp on the materials needed to ensure a high-quality heirloom quilt. High end batting, 100% cotton fabrics, high quality threads, and other materials are only in my studio.
Because I’m easy to work with.
The most favorite part of my business is meeting people and hearing the stories that are attached to all of the items they give me. I have laughed at all the funny stories, I have cried at all the sad stories, and hugged each person who needed a hug. This a HUGE deal to a lot of customers. SO many memories attached to their possessions and I am always honored that they choose me to trust in creating a quilt for them. Some customers tell me to “surprise them” and don’t want to be given pictures during the process. Other customers love being part of every step. I accommodate every single customer as to how they want to be part of the entire process. The big reveal is the most exciting (and nerve-racking) part! Every single time the customer is so happy…..some even cry.
Im a laid-back person and down-to-Earth. One of my goals is to make you feel comfortable with the entire process.
